Tiki Typhoon: Dangerous Ride Hidden Behind Illegal Screens

Belmont Park is hiding serious risks at the Tiki Typhoon ride behind a massive privacy barrier the public was never supposed to see.

Observers report the ride sits on a dangerously uneven slab with heavy support jacks propped on stacked wood, some piles reaching up to twelve inches high. No engineering certifications or safety documents are posted anywhere near the ride. Instead of fixing the dangers, Belmont threw up a giant screen to block the public’s view. This screen appears to violate their lease, which demands written City approval for any signs, banners, or anything else that obstructs visibility.

There is no proof the ride is properly certified or meets California safety standards. Until Belmont comes clean and shows public evidence, Tiki Typhoon remains a hidden threat spinning over unstable supports while City officials do nothing to protect Mission Beach families.

$1.5 MILLION COASTER LIE!

Belmont Park Blasted After “Safe” Ride SHUT DOWN for 4 Days — Public Cries Cover-Up!

Weeks after this report aired, and Belmont Park’s spokesperson misled the public with claims of $1.5 million in repairs and a safe ride, the roller coaster was abruptly shut down for four days of emergency fixes.

We believe serious safety issues remain — and demand a full inspection by an independent engineer selected by the City, not Belmont Park.

The public deserves the truth — and real accountability.

The Giant Dipper Is a Disaster Waiting to Happen

Belmont Park’s Giant Dipper, a national historic landmark, is in a shocking state of decay. The photos in this gallery expose rotting wood, crumbling supports, and dangerously weakened beams—and instead of fixing the damage, it appears someone is just painting over it.

This isn’t just neglect—it’s a ticking time bomb. With the level of visible deterioration, it’s not a question of IF an accident will happen, but WHEN. The structural integrity of this nearly 100-year-old roller coaster is severely compromised, and without immediate action, someone is going to get hurt.

Maintenance of a historic landmark isn’t optional—it’s legally required. Yet, the images tell a disturbing story: Is the Giant Dipper still safe to ride?

See the photos. Decide for yourself. Then, join the conversation—because ignoring this could have catastrophic consequences.
